Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim endures the stress during their three-one loss at opponents

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim acknowledges he is unable to conceal from his poor record and believes it is normal that Old Trafford former stars are questioning him.

On Tuesday, the club's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his program that "the soul has gone" from his former club.

Amorim has achieved just 18 victories from his 49 games in control, including nine out of 33 in the Premier League, where he has yet to record back-to-back consecutive victories.

Although high-level club sources are adamant that the club owner is still backing Amorim, failure to defeat recently promoted Sunderland on the weekend will ignite new speculation about his role heading into another two-week pause in domestic football.

"It is understandable," said the Portuguese coach, when asked about Rooney's observations. "You cannot hide from the outcomes."

"Furthermore you have the legacy from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me is irrelevant."

Fan Reaction and Present Situation

Manchester United's supporters stayed behind Amorim following last season's disappointing showing, when they finished fifteenth in the league - their poorest finish since the 1973-74 demotion campaign - and were defeated in the Europa League final, in the belief that the current campaign would be considerably improved.

Amorim assured fans the situation would change because he had greater opportunity to prepare with his players without the weekly commitment of European competition.

That is not been how the first six games have developed as Manchester United have endured three losses already and are currently fourteenth in the table.

Coach's Response to Concerns

When asked what promises he could provide fans that the circumstances will change, Amorim continued: "This is not time to talk, it is the moment to show."

"Personally analyze the games this season and, for me, they are totally distinct, but I have nothing to add at the current time."

  • Man Utd presently hold the fourteenth place in the Premier League
  • The manager has secured just 18 of his forty-nine games in control
  • Wayne Rooney recently questioned the team's current direction
  • The upcoming match against their opponents is crucial for Amorim's future
